Foraging and Brews

Join us for an evening of collaboration with Labyrinth Mushrooms in foraging for wild plants and mushrooms. You will learn how to properly identify plants, trees, and mushrooms that can be used for food or medicine. Mel of Rooted in the Wild and Tabitha from Labyrinth Mushrooms are Registered Nurses turned herbalist and holistic coach and love to talk about bringing the wild world into the health transformation so needed in this world. Plan to wear hiking boots and weather appropriate gear for our wander into the woods before returning to circle up and share a pint of local brew over conversation about food as medicine. Non-alcoholic options will be available as well.

Location to be determined closer to the event based on mushroom sightings! We will meet in the greater Grand Rapids area.

Sisters Breaking Free: Into The Wild Retreat

Join Amanda Fisher of Honor Wellness and Mel DeBoer of Rooted in the Wild for a wild weekend of connecting with self, a supportive community of women, and the wild world of nature. Together we will explore the depths of becoming lost enough to find our way back to love community, connection, and purpose with an experience of fasting, ceremony, contemplative practices, and council.

During this 3-night retreat, you will have the opportunity to explore your comfort zone and your edges. Together we will dive deep into nature with the rare opportunity to unplug. With your guides, Amanda and Mel, and your fellow sisters for the weekend, you will have the invitation to choose what your experience will be and how you will connect with yourself, the community, and nature. Our ceremony and contemplative practices will encourage you to explore silence, nature, and yourself in ways that are not often found in today’s society.

This retreat will also offer an optional 24-hour fasting practice. This practice provides your body an opportunity to become fully emptied to allow you to feel the sacredness of the space and community around you. In many cultures throughout the world - past and present - solo fasting is considered a rite of passage or initiation into the discovery of the soul. Amanda and Mel will offer practices to explore out on the land during solo time in order to deepen your work. Upon return to the community of fellow fasters and participants, we will hold council to share our experiences and offer the gifted wisdom out to the collective of the group.

This time together includes: camping sites on 40 acres of private conservation land, meals (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners), various exercises and practices on the land, group breathwork, solo contemplative time, council, and connection.

Meet with Mel or Amanda to determine if this retreat is right for you.

Please note this is a women’s only retreat space. No refunds will be issued after June 16, 2024. Tickets may be transferred to another individual after June 16, 2024. It is important to consider the needs of your particular body when considering a fasting practice. If you have a history of blood sugar instability, diabetes, or any other metabolic condition, please connect with your physician before applying. Mel and Amanda can offer optional deepening practices without fasting if needed.

Joy in the Feminine Breathwork and Song Circle

Join songstress and embodied movement practitioner Peri Jill along with breathwork facilitator and naturopath Mel DeBoer for an evening of integrated expression celebrating the wild feminine within. We will rejoice in the spirit of our femininity with sacred song, movement, and breathwork.

Maybe you have grieved, surrendered, lamented. Gone deep into the depths of sorrow, inner child, shadow. This is vital, important work…and now it’s time to celebrate life and the joy of being a feminine soul in this beautiful world.

Breathwork experience is not required. And no, you do not need to be a professional singer!

Rise up, sister. Reignite your feminine spark. This is exactly where you need to be.

Peri Jill, RYT, STP is a somatic and vocal artist guiding women to greater depths of creativity and self-expression through song, embodied movement, and play.

Mel DeBoer, RN, is a Naturopath breathwork practitioner trained through Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System. She guides folks in reconnection with the wilder world through rites of initiation, sacred medicine, and wilderness training.
